NPGL library provides a fast, cost-effective way to port 3-D graphics andvisualization applications from the Silicon Graphics platform to SunSPARCstations and other workstations. NPGL is a hardware-independentversion of the IRIS GL 4.0 library from Silicon Graphics. With NPGL, aGL application can be ported to the SPARC/Solaris environment within daysby recompiling the source code. SGI applications ported with NPGL takefull advantage of the speed and graphics capability of Sun graphicsaccelerators, as well as a third-party accelerators from Evans &Sutherland, Matrox and Fairchild Defense. NPGL supports Solaris 2 withXGL and SunOS 4.1.3 with XGL 2.0.
